Coral Springs Hosts Breast Cancer Awareness Events – Oct 1 -31
In honor of October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Broward Health Coral
Springs will host events throughout the month with proceeds to benefit the
Lisa Boccard Breast Cancer Fund, a fund that helps women in need obtain free
mammograms. See page 17 for details.

Holiday Craft Show – Fri. & Sat., October 5 & 6
The Coral Springs Craft Guild Presents The 35th Annual Coral Springs Craft Guild
Fall/Holiday Craft Show on Friday from 5:00pm – 9:00pm and Saturday from
9:00am-4:00pm at La Quinta Inn and Suites, 3701 University Drive in Coral
Springs. New artists, exciting hand crafted items and special events are planned,
making this the show to attend. Friday night admission is $1 or two canned goods

Not My Daughter’s 3rd Annual Shopping Boutique & Luncheon – Monday, October 8th
Emmy Award winning NBC6 South Florida news anchor Trina Robinson emcees the
3rd Annual Not My Daughter… find a cure now! Shopping Boutique and Luncheon
from 10:00am to 2:00pm at the Marriott Heron Bay, 11775 Heron Bay Boulevard,
Coral Springs. Enjoy a performance by popular country music duo Jenny and Ashley,
world class shopping boutique, auctions, raffles, and the company of friends. One
great day for one important cause – to make a difference in the battle to end breast

2012 Parkland Dash – Sunday, October 14th
7:00AM at Pine Trails Park.
Following the success of last year’s inaugural race, this year’s has been expanded
by adding a 10K race in addition to the 5K and 1 Mile Family Fun Run. The Tri
County Humane Society is the benefactor and additional donations can also be given
directly at the event. The 5K and 10K races will take place on flat and fast certified
courses with individual timing done by Accuchip. Awards will be given for overall
winners, masters and age categories with runners as young as 5 up to 80 years old.

Chiefs Lacrosse FREE?CLINIC – October 14
The Coral Springs Chiefs will be hosting free fall clinics for all players, interested
in learning the game or picking up additional skills. Clinics are open to boys and girls in all age group (U7 – U15) and skill levels. Held at North Community Park

7th Annual “Golfing for the King” – Fri., Oct. 19
Registrations begins at 7:30am and includes breakfast, time on the Range, beverages
on the course and an Awards Luncheon. The shotgun start is at 8:30, with proceeds
directly benefiting the Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Fund for Coral Springs
high school students. This scholarship is offered regardless of ethnicity and to date,
more than 160 high school seniors have received scholarships. The purpose of the
scholarship program is “to provide funds to needy, local students who, through
their words and actions, embody the spirit of Dr. King’s teachings.” Gifts for the
Silent Auction held at the Golf Tournament are also being accepted at this time. All

Halloween Haunted House – Friday, October 26
Pretty Princesses and ghoulish ghosts are welcome at this year’s family friendly
Halloween Haunted House at the Coral Springs Gymnasium, 2501 Coral Springs
Drive. Children will wander through a non-scary haunted house that weaves
through decorated classrooms and then have a chance to play in a bounce house.

Bowlathon – Sunday, October 28th
The Rotary Club of Coral Springs/Parkland dares you to come in costume to
their 2012 Bowlathon benefiting the scholarship funds for Coral Glades, Coral
Springs, Douglas & Taravella High Schools. The fun is at the Sawgrass Lanes,
8501 N. University Dr, Tamarac and includes a live DJ, lights and music show.
Everyone is welcome! Cost is $25 per person and includes 2 hours of bowling,
shoe rental, 2 slices of pizza, chips and soda. The games begin at Noon and
end at 3pm. Candy “treats” and prizes for best costume. For more info, contact

Farmer’s Market – Sundays, Nov. 4 & 18th*
The City of Parkland is inviting all Parkland Families out to Pine Trails Park Fishing
Pier from 8:00-10:00am. Remember to bring your fishing poles, buckets, and bait!
Each fish caught will be weighed and prizes will be awarded. This is a FREE event!
