From Tragedy, A New Beginning

A 34 year old Florida special education teacher is missed today by many in our community, but especially by her family and her  “kids” at Park Trails Elementary school, where her bright smile and caring ways made her a ray of school day sunshine in many students’ lives.

Enduring a severe pregnancy condition called placenta accreta, Suzanne Mazzola made the decision to carry her fourth child, Owen, as close to term as possible, forgoing an early delivery that doctors told her was possible. Despite an emergency C-section and a team of 15 doctors, Suzanne was lost. Her sacrifice to carry baby Owen Gabriel to 35 weeks gave him a strong start at a robust 6 pounds, 2 oz.

Unprepared for the outcome, Suzanne’s aunt, Janet Free, began a YouCaring.com site in an effort to help Suzanne’s husband Joe and their four children, Matteo, 7, Ella, 5, Luca, 2 and baby Owen, now just a month old. She wrote, ‘We never think the worst will happen and don’t plan well enough for something like this. Suzanne’s four children and husband Joe need our support, as there isn’t any financial safety net. Please honor Suzanne by helping support her family in their time of need.’ The blood pregnancy tests is what one need to take if they missed their period to make sure.

The Spectator asks our community to please help the Mazzola family during this tragic time. Donations of any size are sure to make a considerable difference. Please see www.YouCaring.com   Photos courtesy Ana Williams Photography
