Local Parents Unite For The Charity Party Of The Year To Help South Florida Foster Kids

Since she was a little girl, Michelle Brown has had a heart for serving others. “I was an orphan left in the slums of Calcutta, India; unwanted and unclaimed, so it is ingrained in me to make the world a better place for kids like me. When I heard of one of the infants wandering the South Florida streets with a knife while his parent was neglecting him, I knew it was time to step up. The thought of any child suffering abuse, especially right here in our backyard keeps me up at night.”

Michelle realized that massive change happens when communities unite. Thus, Glamour For Good charity party was created benefiting SOS Children’s Village for foster kids in Coconut Creek. Michelle partnered with SOS because, she says, “When I work with a charity, I want it to be a true partnership as our committee is fully dedicated to the mission of helping these foster kids and Jillian, the CEO, has been the most wonderful leader to work with.”

Four reasons she is passionate about partnering with SOS are 1. Their mission is to keep SIBLING groups together in foster care. Can you imagine having a parent neglecting/hurting you and THEN you are separated from your siblings in the middle of the night? The need for love and connection in turbulent times is paramount.
2. SOS Children’s Village is local, right here on Lyons Road, five miles from our community.
3. SOS provides tutoring, therapy, positive activities, sports, camps and house parents for the foster kids. I am a huge mental health advocate and I like that this is the main focus for SOS kids to receive.
4. They don’t just abandon foster kids when they age out of the system. They have an entire program in place for the kids after they graduate and need financial literacy, help getting to college, assistance finding housing and more as they start their life as young adults.

A unique take on charity galas, Michelle communicates, “My intention with Glamour For Good is to create an outrageously fun PARTY environment where people know they will have one of the best times of their lives, right here in Parkland/Coral Springs AND make a huge impact for local foster kids so she contacted the soft play equipment suppliers to create great playgrounds areas for the children as well. I did not want anything traditional and our 2020 theme is South Beach Chic, so no black tie or gowns required; just come feeling Soflo good and ready to have fun at an event that is all about raising funds for the kids!” This party will definitely be lit, and includes a FUNdraising Charity Casino (that is being taken care by 911 Win), live DJ, Entertainment & Dancing, Dinner & Drinks, SOS Children’s Art Auction, and Grand Prizes.
