Strength + Determination + Positive Alliances = Defying Gravity. Celebrate the strength of community and hope for a future without breast cancer at the Not My Daughter…find a cure now! 9th Annual Shopping Boutique and Luncheon to be held on Monday, October 29th, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Heron Bay Marriott 11775 Heron Bay Boulevard, Coral Springs.

Defying Gravity is the theme for Not My Daughter…find a cure now!’s 9th Annual Shopping Boutique and Luncheon. The theme describes the grit and determination to push hard and lift up to change the course of events. That’s an appropriate way to describe the attitudes and motivation of volunteer -run fundraising group Not My Daughter…find a cure now! The organization is determined to give power to provide funding for cancer research, resources, and positive efforts to eradicate cancer before it reaches future generations. To date, Not My Daughter has raised over $600,000 to fund research and provide services for those affected by cancer. What’s their motivation? They are all moms, daughters, sisters and friends of people who have been impacted by cancer – and they are determined to defy the odds to make a difference for future generations.

When the Not My Daughter group began nine years ago, they met in Denyse Hostig’s kitchen in Parkland, and planned for an event to bring funds and awareness to the need for research and resources to support those battling cancer. Hostig, a breast cancer survivor vowed to bring about change to assure that her daughter Avery, and future generations wouldn’t have to endure the difficulty of cancer. The group thought that they would have an impact – but the support of the community has made this more far reaching than imagined. They’ve made it a community’s mission.

“We’re now triple the size of our original committee and include a Not My Daughter Teen Advisory Group to support our efforts. We are proud to have raised over $600,000 in under 9 years to help people defy the odds and support the fight against cancer,” states Denyse Hostig., founder and co-chair of Not My Daughter…find a cure now!

The organization has donated to support cancer research with PAP Corps, as well as local chapters of Susan G. Komen and MSD Stand Up To Cancer. The Not My Daughter Healing Boutique at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center in Plantation opened this year and is making it possible to purchase ancillary items for those battling cancer.

Says Hostig, “Not My Daughter…find a cure now! is motivated to support our community and will continue to bring funding and arm people with the knowledge and resources to defy the odds and win the battle against breast cancer.”
