Join the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Parkland, Coral Springs, Margate and Coconut Creek for a Future Free of Cancer

Event celebrates those touched by cancer, remembers loved ones lost, and takes action for lifesaving change

The American Cancer Society (ACS) Relay For Life of Parkland, Coral Springs, Margate and Coconut Creek invites the communities to attend the annual Relay survivor and caregiver celebration on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

Relay For Life is a movement, a community of like-minded survivors, caregivers, volunteers, and participants who believe that the future can be free from cancer. It continues to be the largest peer-to-peer fundraising event, with 2.5    million participants globally uniting to save lives from cancer.

“During this difficult time, cancer won’t stop, and neither will we,” said event lead Megan Mila. “We are bringing our traditional Relay back to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School with a big focus on fun for the whole community. Our theme is ‘Not all heroes wear capes’. More than 40 teams and more than 500 participants will join together to raise funds and awareness in an effort to free the world from the pain and suffering of cancer.”

Entertainment Chairperson and cancer survivor Chris Fletcher explains “Our goal is to host over 100 cancer survivors and their caregivers at the event. The opening ceremony will include a special Survivors Lap. Survivors and their caregivers will also enjoy a complimentary dinner.  After sunset, we light Luminarias to remember those we have lost, to celebrate cancer survivors, and to show those affected by cancer that they are not alone.”

The American Cancer Society’s mission matters more than ever. The needs of people facing cancer continue and so does our work. Cancer patients still need support during this crisis. Funds raised help the American Cancer Society to continue with cancer research, the 24/7 helpline, and for continuing services to get patients the care and support they need where we can.

Community members can join Relay For Life teams to fundraise virtually and continue the fight through additional fundraising events. “We are so honored to host multiple events to support the American Cancer Society in such times of need,” said Megan Mila. “We have added a youth Talent Show Fundraising competition on March20th www.tinyurl.com/RelaysGotTalent2022 and a Swing Fore a Cure golf tournament on April 30th www.swingforeacure.com).”
