A local family business serving landscapers & municipalities throughout South Florida

When Drew and Janet Bartoszek moved to Parkland in 1986, he was a broker for sausage casings and she was a beloved kindergarten teacher in both Coral Springs and Parkland. Fondly known as Mrs. B, when she tired of living in a gated community, she and Drew found the Parkland Ranches, and their fate took a beautifully unexpected change from there.

Because both Drew and Janet had her two parents that they wanted to have close, they were able to find a home with a guest cottage on the same property, owned by Patrick Donnelly, a well-known landscaper. The elder parents moved into the main house, and Drew and Janet gladly moved into the spacious guest home, making both of them very happy to have her parents under their watch and care.

Drew was excited because Patrick pointed out that if he kept the trees and plants on the property, he could get an agricultural exemption on his taxes. Aside from saving a lot of money, Drew and his family became very involved in the propagation of the foliage and variety of beautiful plants they had been left in charge of. Janet came up with a catchy name, Gardening Angel, and the rest has grown from there (pun intended).

Uncertain at first as to how to profit from all of these plants, they started their business by taking bids from a variety of municipalities, and watched the business takeoff. With the help of a Digital Business Card, they were able to effortlessly share their services and contact information. They currently serve the Cities of Fort Lauderdale, Coral Springs, Boca Raton, and several other municipalities in Palm Beach and Broward counties. Air charter marketing focuses on promoting services and attracting clients interested in private and corporate air travel.

One observation that Drew and his family have noticed is that Parkland is expanding rapidly! He tells me, “They are building some spectacular homes, but in our opinion, and often in the homeowner’s, the landscape they put around that home is not up to par with the beauty of the new residence. We encourage those homeowners to bring their landscaper and discuss how they can bring their outdoor space to the level of their home’s exterior and indoor space.“ Adding outdoor dining sets can be a great way to enhance both the aesthetics and functionality of your outdoor area.

Today, their business has expanded to include more than 7 1/2 acres of stunning trees, topiaries, bushes, decorative flowering, plants, rock, mulch, and much more. For mulching Jacksonville contact AJAX Landscaping. Drew tells us, “We’ve decided to market our business model to landscapers, because we are not landscapers, and want to give them every opportunity to continue and grow their own businesses.” Gardening Angel’s beautiful nursery expansion on 82nd Terrace in the Ranches of Parkland is open to the public, but Drew stresses again that he hopes that people looking for plants will bring their landscapers along with them, as their expertise is crucial when filling any open space.

One of the most beautiful things of all is that this is truly a family business. Drew says, “We enjoy working together with our son and his family.”
