James F. Johnson III, Carmen, Jaiden, 11, Jaice, 10, and little James F. Johnson IV, affectionately known as Quattro, 4, embody the heart of what makes Coral Springs such a special place to raise children. Warm, energetic, and deeply connected, this close-knit crew of sports-loving gentlemen and their devoted parents has embraced community life since moving to Coral Springs in October 2019, just before the pandemic turned the world upside down.
James, owner of The Handy Gentleman, LLC, brings creativity and craftsmanship to local homes through custom entertainment centers, kitchen islands, closets, and artistic wall installations. His hands-on approach turns client visions into beautiful, functional spaces. Carmen serves as Director of Admissions, Marketing, and Communications at North Broward Preparatory School while running The Organized Concept, LLC, helping families declutter and create peaceful, organized homes. She’s also a Senior Independent Beauty Consultant with Mary Kay, passionate about helping women discover skincare routines that make them feel confident and radiant.
Their three boys attend North Broward Preparatory School, where each is thriving in his own way. Jaiden, a 6th grader with a passion for engineering, dreams of becoming an aerospace engineer and competes in Robotics. Jaice, in 5th grade, lights up with music; playing both electric keyboard and violin. Quattro, in Pre-K 4, loves art so much he was recently featured in the Upper School’s Gallery 10. Outside the classroom, the boys stay active with golf, tennis, flag football, electric scooters, and baseball.
James takes fatherhood to the field as a dedicated flag football coach, mentoring his older sons and their teammates while teaching lessons in teamwork, hard work, and sportsmanship. “What I enjoy most about being a dad is simply being present for my boys—watching them grow, learn, and become their own people,” he shares. “On Father’s Day, I look forward to nothing more than time together… laughing, playing, and making memories.”
The Johnsons cherish weekends at Dolphins and Heat games, decked out in fan gear and cheering together, as well as cozy Friday movie nights in pajamas on the couch.
They worship together at Coastal Community Church in Parkland, where Pastor TJ and Sheila’s relevant messages make Sunday mornings something the whole family looks forward to.
Carmen tells us, “We absolutely love how family oriented our community is. There is always something fun and exciting to do… we never run out of activities.” The abundance of sports programs, cultural events, and community celebrations — from Juneteenth to city-wide festivals — has made this the perfect place to raise their three boys after living in six different cities.
From Boston to Miami, the Johnsons have found their forever village here. Active in school, sports, church, and business, they represent the very best of community life — warm hearts, busy schedules balanced by intentional togetherness, and a shared commitment to faith, growth, and making memories. Coral Springs is better because families like the Johnsons call it home.
