Kanterman Family In Focus

Meet the Kanterman Family

Due to be sworn into Office this November, please meet Parkland commissioner-elect Neil Kanterman, his wife, Andrea, and their two children, Matthew, 25, and Samantha, 23. Animal lovers like most of us, their family is completed by two Bernedoodles, Bella and Bogo, and a Frenchie/pit mix named Oly.

Dr. Kanterman is a pediatric ophthalmologist, in practice in Plantation for 20 years. He compassionately cares for children in the surgical and medical treatment of all eye conditions. Looking forward to his new position with the city of Parkland he says, “I am also the incoming City Commissioner for District 4 this November.”

Andrea owns and operates CrossFit Hardcore Parkland, trying to get our local community as fit as possible!

Both of their kids are working young adults. Matthew is in Arizona, working for a corporation that focuses on assisting those falling out of touch with the healthcare system. He loves music and volunteering.

Samantha lives in Coconut Creek and is the Executive Pastry Chef at the Ritz-Carlton in Ft. Lauderdale. She enjoys going to the gym and, particularly, Olympic-style weightlifting!

Neil tells us, “Andrea and I are both deeply involved in community fitness. Andrea is a Level 2 CrossFit Trainer, as well as a nutrition coach, and owns CrossFit Hardcore Parkland. I am a Level 3 CrossFit Trainer, as well as a USA Weightlifting National Coach. I coach, compete and officiate in the sport of Olympic-style weightlifting locally, nationally, and internationally. As stated above, I am taking part in Parkland Municipal Government as a city commissioner this November. We are supporters of multiple local charities, including Make Our Schools Safe and SOS Children’s Village. We are also trustee members of the Parkland Chamber of Commerce.”

Despite their busy lifestyle, they do find time to do other enjoyable things. Andrea tells us, “We love to travel and get outside in nature, particularly hiking. We love to cook, and Samantha has turned it into a career. We also love to go to hockey games (Go Panthers!)”

Neil and Andrea both agree that their favorite parts of Parkland are the quiet and agricultural setting of the area, with a great selection of parks and green spaces. They feel that the communities are filled with great people as well. Neil adds, “It’s really like living in a small town!”

The Kantermans have attended events at the Chabad of Parkland.
