Coral Springs Youth Soccer (CSYS) has been a beloved part of the Coral Springs community since its founding in 1976. As the official recreational soccer league of Coral Springs, CSYS has grown over the past 48 years into a thriving organization that brings together over 2,000 players each year. With a strong emphasis on family involvement and a commitment to providing a fun and supportive environment, CSYS continues to be a pillar of the community.
Founded by Hugh V. Murphy and his wife, Betty, CSYS was established at a time when soccer was not very sought-after in Coral Springs. The Murphys’ dedication and vision helped the league quickly gain popularity, with far more children signing up and demonstrating interest than ever anticipated. Today, CSYS represents an enduring tradition of excellence in Coral Springs youth sports.
As CSYS prepares for the upcoming 2024-2025 season, the organization is excited to expand its offerings to an additional age group. This season, the league will serve children aged 4.5 to 20, since previously limiting participation to 19-year-olds. The season will run from November through March, with practices and games held primarily at Mullins Park. CSYS also utilizes the fields at North Springs Park as needed.
David Phelps, a long-time volunteer and board member of CSYS, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming season. “We’re thrilled to see the league continue to grow and build upon our long-standing legacy in the community” he said. “It’s going to be a fantastic season, and I can’t wait to see everyone out on the field.”
Online registration for the upcoming season is now open at csys.org. The cost to participate is $150 for U6-U8, $165 for U10-U15, and $180 for U16-U20.
Boys and girls of all experience levels are encouraged to participate. Registration is open to Coral Springs residents and non-residents, although non-residents (with the exception of students attending a Coral Springs school) must pay an additional $57.18 fee.
Additionally, two more in-person registration events will be held at Mullins Hall on September 7th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and September 12th from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. These events are a great opportunity for families to register their children and meet CLEATS, the CSYS mascot, who will be available for photo ops. CSYS is a volunteer-run organization that relies on parents and community members to coach and mentor the young players. Any parents interested in getting involved should register online, and can expect to receive free training courses.
In preparation for the new season, CSYS is also actively seeking sponsors and referees. Sponsorships from local businesses help sustain the league’s operations, while referees play a crucial role in ensuring that games are fair and enjoyable for all participants.
As CSYS celebrates 48 years of operation, the organization looks forward to continuing its mission of fostering a love for soccer in Coral Springs. Registration is now open. For more information or to register for the upcoming season, please visit csys.org.
