n a vital part of the community, providing a fun and welcoming environment for kids to leaSince its humble beginnings in 1987, Parkland Soccer has beern soccer and grow as individuals, while also bringing the community together. What started on a simple cow pasture has evolved into a thriving program now held at the expansive Pine Trails Park. This year, Parkland Soccer is celebrating its 37th year, and the excitement is building as everyone prepares for another unforgettable soccer season.
Registration for the upcoming season is now open and will close on September 1st. Last year, about 1600 kids participated in Parkland Soccer. This year, with the growing community and interest in soccer, even more player turnout is expected.
Parkland Soccer is about much more than just playing soccer. The organization focuses on building self-esteem, promoting physical fitness, and teaching respect and achievement. It’s an inclusive environment where kids not only improve their soccer skills but also learn important life lessons. This approach has made Parkland Soccer a beloved part of the community, trusted by families for generations.
One of the highlights of the program is the end-of-season celebration. This event brings the community together to celebrate the hard work and achievements of the players. The celebration includes awarding up to ten $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors. These scholarships are an important part the program, emphasizing the values of Parkland Soccer while providing opportunities to its most dedicated participants.
Doug Cole, the President of Parkland Soccer, shares his thoughts on the organization’s growth and its impact on the community. “Parkland Soccer has been growing every year, and it’s amazing to see the community come together to support our young athletes. Our end-of-season celebration, where we give out scholarships to graduating seniors, is a testament to the impact we have on these kids, teaching them respect, sportsmanship, and how to deal with referees and coaches. It’s truly heartwarming to read their essays and see how much the program means to them.”
The success of Parkland Soccer wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of its all-volunteer Board of Directors and the support of numerous volunteers. Over twenty board members work hard to make sure everything runs smoothly, from scheduling and registration to overall program support. Volunteers are the backbone of Parkland Soccer, showing the community spirit that defines the program.
Sponsors are also crucial to the success of Parkland Soccer’s mission. Sponsors like Dick’s Sporting Goods, Broward Health, Lacroix Sparkling Water, ZenQuest Realty, and many others provide essential support for the organization’s operating expenses, including team uniforms and referees.
As Parkland Soccer looks forward to another season, the organization remains dedicated to its mission of fostering youth development and building a strong, supportive community. With growing participation, generous volunteer and sponsorship support, and a continued focus on youth development, Parkland Soccer is set up for another memorable year.
