The Phi Xi Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated was chartered on February 28, 2008, by a dedicated group of seven women with a vision to extend the mission of Zeta within Broward County, specifically the Coral Springs community. This year marks 16 years of continuous service, significantly impacting the community. Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. is a community-conscious, action-oriented organization founded on the principles of scholarship, service, sisterhood, and finer womanhood on January 16, 1920, on the campus of Howard University.
Phi Xi Zeta Chapter members are affectionately known as The Ladies in Blue. You can always find the Ladies in Blue leading a service initiative near you. Here are some of the service initiatives that Phi Xi Zeta Chapter has been able to contribute to the Coral Springs community.
- Honoring the men and women of the Coral Springs Police Department providing essential items such as hand sanitizers, wipes, and car air fresheners.
- Ensuring children and teachers get the support needed by adopting Coral Springs Elementary.
- Cleaning up their designated Adopt-A-Highway along University Drive from Ramblewood to Royal Palm. This is part of the ongoing commitment to maintaining the cleanliness and beauty of Coral Springs, as is done every quarter.
- Supporting the annual Juneteenth Celebration by providing information on ways to stay healthy through the NCNW Good Health Wins Initiative.
- Aiding in the annual Relay for Life event by raising funds and assisting in various areas as needed.
- Partnering with the Coral Springs Police Department on their annual Toy Drive to donate toys to underprivileged children.
- Walking a mile with a purpose in support of Autism Awareness in Fern Glen Park.
- Supporting local businesses and showcasing the city by having events at locations in Coral Springs. Additionally, their chapter photos proudly display “Coral Springs.” Some of their favorite places include Miss Mary’s Place, Cherry Smash, and the Veterans Building.
The Ladies in Blue are not just in Coral Springs. Their goal is to make an impact across Broward County.
