Tomorrow’s Dream Today 2015

Tomorrow’s Dreams Today, (TDT) the nonprofit organization started by Jeb Niewood, the man who founded Parkland Buddy Sports in 2002, realizes the need for more programs for children and young adults with special needs. And Tomorrow’s Dreams Today is making that happen.

A fitness, training and nutrition program called Fit Friends will start in January 2015. The program is designed to engage children and young adults with special needs and encourages a healthy interest in being physically fit. Participants will learn stretching techniques, dynamic aerobic exercises and strength training all under the careful supervision of certified physical trainers and trained student volunteers. Nutritional guidance will also be offered with the ultimate goal of meeting each individual’s need to achieve a healthy body and a happy person. Laura Schepps who is helping to coordinate the program said, “as a certified personal trainer for over twelve years and the parent of a special needs child, I am so excited to help facilitate the Fit Friends program and have my own son participate in it! This program will help develop coordination, strength, discipline, self confidence, overall health and body awareness in a fun and socially structured environment.”

Also on-going is Rock Dreams, TDT’s successful inaugural program that engages children and young adults with special needs in an interactive music program. Rock Dreams teaches music in a rock and roll setting through singing, dancing and interaction with guitars, keyboards and percussion.

Tomorrow’s Dreams Today’s goals are to assist children and young adults with special needs in realizing their individual potential. What sets TDT apart is its mission is to unite the special needs and typical populations through its unique programs and projects. Tomorrow’s Dreams Today implements a peer to peer model where each program participant is matched with a trained student volunteer for the duration of the program encouraging a bond of friendship and understanding.

2015 is shaping up to be a big year for Tomorrow’s Dreams Today. Soon to come, an art therapy program and the announcement of the construction of a first of its kind inclusive park to unite the typical and special needs populations.
