It’s Time to Act

By Michael Armfield

It is January 2016 and it is time to get moving toward the goals you have for your business and family.

This is an interesting time for many business owners. Some owners are getting back to work feeling groggy and frustrated. While others return feeling renewed, rested, and invigorated.

How about you?

Did you achieve the goals you set out to accomplish last year? Have you reviewed your metrics to study and learn from the successes and mistakes that occurred in 2015? Have you retooled your plan of attack and set goals that advance your company in the marketplace?

Your answers to these questions will predict if you are the groggy and frustrated or a renewed and invigorated owner.

Whichever business owner you are, I have good news for you. This year can be the best year ever for you.

As our team reviewed our client’s progress over 2015, I saw a powerful theme in action. The owners who worked according to a measurable plan are starting the New Year poised for success. They are excited to continue the activities that resulted in profit growth and are equally as excited to cut the activities that did not bear fruit.

On the other side of the coin, I reviewed the results of those who chose to put their head down and continue to trudge through their daily business activities. These owners believed a plan of attack and metrics to measure their success were not worthwhile methodologies. As they begin 2016, prospects and hope is waning. They feel this despair as well as their employees, vendors, and customers.

After contemplating this disparagement I had to dig deeper and understand why this was. Every business owner wants to succeed, correct? No one goes into business planning to go belly up, burn themselves out, and fail.

So why does this travesty happen all the time? The answer may surprise you. The owners that are struggling have a few things in common. They report feeling alone and confused when having to make strategic decisions. They report that they have lost their passion for their craft. They report that they measure their success based on what their business account looks like that day, week, or month. They report that they routinely take work home with them and that is eroding their relationship with family. They report that they never planned for it to go this way.

So, which business owner are you?

This month I want to help you succeed. I want to see you gain the clarity and direction you need to correct the course of your business.
