Breast Cancer Awareness Events For October’s Breat Cancer Awareness Month

In honor of October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Broward Health Coral Springs will host the following events with proceeds to benefit the Lisa Boccard Breast Cancer Fund, a fund that helps women in need obtain free mammograms:

MAMMO-PALOOZA – (October 1-31) Our Broward Health goal is to perform 4,200 mammograms during this month. Everyone who gets a mammogram during this month will receive a special Vera Bradley gift along with refreshments and raffle prizes. No physician prescription is required for a mammogram. Most insurances are accepted. $115 self-pay (cash or credit). Walk-ins are welcome. Register on Facebook.com/BrowardHealth for a chance to win an Ipad2. Lipstick Lounge-(October 5th 7pm-10pm) The pink carpet will roll out at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts for the most dazzling and exotic fashion event to capture the heart of South Florida …and with a portion of the proceeds to benefit the Broward Health Foundation/Lisa Boccard Breast Cancer Fund. Pink Paddy Day- (October 6th 11am) Join your local fire fighters for Saint Patty’s Day celebration at Markham Park in Sunrise-with a portion of the proceeds to benefit the Lisa Boccard Breast Cancer Fund. For more information, log on to www.facebook.com/pinkpaddysday

Glam Doll Strut-(October 13 from 11am-3pm) The Glam Doll Strut is the hippest stiletto extravaganza to hit the streets of Fort Lauderdale! Thousands of Divas will descend on SW 2nd Street wearing some of the most fashionable, fabulous and innovative attire imaginable. The Strut kicks off in grand style as the teams shimmy, shake and sashay for the celebrity judging panel and with a portion of the proceeds to benefit the Broward Health Foundation/Lisa Boccard Breast Cancer Fund. This year FOUR teams will be crowned Queen of Glam-A-Thon 2012 based on the number of members on their team.

Mad Hatter’s Tea – (October 21, 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.) Come wearing a creatively decorated “PINK” hat for contest judging and fun! This FREE community event will include free refreshments, educational booths, music, raffles, prizes, chair massage, a meet & greet with Lisa Boccard herself, and more. Coral Springs Firefighters “Pinktober” Spaghetti Dinner- (October 27th 4-8pm) A donation of $5 gets you a homemade firehouse sauce with pasta, salad and beverage with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Lisa Boccard Breast Cancer Fund. Brighton Collectibles Bracelet – (October 1-31) Brighton Collectibles will hold its annual “Power for Pink” campaign where they will sell their signature bracelet jewelry piece. A portion of the sale for each bracelet will be donated to the Lisa Boccard Breast Cancer Fund to help women in need obtain free mammograms. Broward Health Coral Springs hosts ongoing FREE Breast Cancer Support Groups on the third Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the hospital’s café conference room. 3000 Coral Hills Drive. In addition, the American Cancer Society’s Look Good…Feel Better Program is a community-based, FREE, national service. It teaches female cancer patients beauty tips to look better and feel good about how they look during chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Meeting dates are the first Tuesday of every month at Coral Springs Medical Center’s Medical Office Complex Conference Room at 3100 Coral Hills Drive.
