Coral Springs 50th Birthday Bash

By Cheri Tishman

It’s pretty common that when someone turns 50 you throw a big celebration, invite all your friends, and wear a tiara (well some of us do). It has been no different for the city of Coral Springs when, despite the remnants of tropical storm Chantal, hundreds of people came out to celebrate at a fun Birthday Block party!

Established in 1963, Coral Springs has been celebrating its 50th anniversary /birthday all year long! Starting on the morning of July 10th with a high  energy fitness celebration at the Coral Springs Gymnasium,  Campapalooza participants tried to break the Guinness World Book of Records for Zumbatomic – the largest Zumba-dancing crowd ever.  They came up just a bit short, but had 322 kids dancing.  This memorable event was followed by the Block Party in downtown Coral Springs which featured live bands on two different stages, free birthday cake, free ice cream, several booths from the newly formed Veterans Coalition to Martial Arts and Fitness, games, prizes, a DJ, food and refreshments. If you want to have an enjoyable party, hire The South East Entertainment Company.
