Diamond Reflex(ct)ions

Every kid has a favorite. Whether it’s pizza, Scooby Doo, a lucky hat or a pet hamster, there’s bound to be something they like the best. When asked about a sport, chances are good that baseball will get a large percentage of the tally. The many challenging aspects of the game intrigue boys and girls alike. In an informal poll, the youngest kids said that hitting the ball was the best part of the game. A logical response when most children get a bat and ball as soon as they can toddle. As they grow into their legs, they get a bit more competitive and start working on the speed portion of their game. Now it’s whacking and running that become the focus of their training. As our young ones hone their skills at catching pop flies, grounders and the balls that whiz directly at them, their confidence grows and finally the game comes together in their minds as a play with many acts requiring a myriad of mindsets. Baseball is a game of fast choices and even faster reflexes.

Bunt, line drive or homer? Take the walk or hit it hard? Steal or stay? Stand or slide?

The more they play, the quicker it gets.
