Fitwize 4 Kids Summer Camp: Where Fun, Fitness and Life Skills Meet

By Ashley Ferraro

Fitwize 4 Kids is a leading fitness facility for children, comprised of a youth gym and life skills center. Since opening its doors in 2016, Fitwize has gained a reputation as South Florida’s premier destination for youth development. With a focus on enhancing self-esteem, fostering healthy habits, and instilling proper nutrition practices, Fitwize’s mission is to empower youth to bolster their physical, emotional, and social well-being.

As summer approaches, Fitwize’s Summer Camp is preparing for nine weeks of sports, cooking classes, fitness training, nutrition programs, educational brain games, STEM programming, and more. The summer camp, one of the center’s most popular programs, provides a unique environment for youth to develop essential life skills while having fun.

Unlike traditional camps that focus solely on fun, Fitwize adopts a holistic approach, emphasizing resilience, problem-solving abilities, physical fitness, healthy eating habits, adaptability, leadership skills, and character building. This comprehensive approach ensures that children not only enjoy their summer, but also develop valuable skills and habits that will benefit them throughout their lives.

Fitwize’s state-of-the-art facility in Coral Springs is staffed by professional fitness trainers, teachers, and nurses, all of whom have undergone background checks.

Executive director Alex Duran founded Fitwize 4 Kids with the goal to provide a safe and inclusive space for children, inspired by his own experiences of childhood bullying and his desire to impact children’s lives, particularly those with special needs. Alex is a motivational speaker for children, and the author of several books, including books on bullying and similar topics.

Alex’s background as a Marine further reinforced his understanding of resilience and the critical need each child has for a supportive environment. Throughout his professional life, he has held various noteworthy positions in exercise fitness, including Master Trainer. Since opening Fitwize’s Coral Springs location nearly a decade ago, Alex has witnessed the positive impact of the program on many children’s lives. He remains on-site at the facility to ensure that the quality and safety standards are maintained at the highest level.

Fitwize’s nine-week summer camp program begins on June 11th, with each week focused on a different theme. From the “Toys From Trash” week, which inspires kids to repurpose broken toys, to “Wacky Science,” which engages kids in exciting science experiments, and “Ultimate Kid Chef,” which teaches essential kitchen skills and promotes healthy eating habits, Fitwize’s summer camp offers an all-encompassing experience. Kids will leave feeling revitalized, inspired, and confident, ready to apply the skills they’ve learned at Fitwize in the real world.

Campers are free to attend just one week, choose several weeks, or attend all nine weeks through the start of the new school year. The camp operates weekdays from 8 am to 3 pm, with extended aftercare available. Meals are provided. Registration can be completed online at www.fitwize4kids.org/summer-camp.
