Basketball is a timeless sport and, in most communities, there is always one league or another going on. Coral Springs kids are geared up for a season that’s always fun, full of action and with plenty of opportunities to learn new techniques. With some of the best coaching available, local children can be taught new ways to get through the defense, fake a left or right, or make a hook shot from outside the three point line. As the seasons go on, many of the kids who’ve grown up in the program go on to play for their high schools, and then pursue college hoop dreams.
The Jon Miller Scholarship Fund has awarded more than $150,000 to deserving high school seniors who’ve grown up loving basketball while showing extensive club involvement. Applicants must be shining examples of sportsmanship, mentorship, academic and leadership qualities, all while making a positive difference in the community. An asset to both the Coral Springs Basketball Program and the entire City of Coral Springs, the Jon Miller Scholarship has been a benefit that has encouraged many young athletes on to greater success in many aspects of life, including their professional, non-sports careers.
Aside from the cutest tots and the most energetic youngsters, Coral Springs also hosts several adult leagues in several categories. You’re never too old to get on the hardwood or on the outside courts to show the youngsters you’ve still got game!
In Parkland, the program continues to grow leaps and bounds every year. With a solid travel league as well as recreational players keeping Terramar and Pine Trails Parks busy, residents can be satisfied that their children have the same opportunities for athletic success in a sport of stamina, skill and accuracy. Certain to be outstanding, another exciting season began late last month.
Courts all over South Florida are always busy, whether with leagues of uniformed players or friendly pick-up games of skins and shirts. If you’re wearing a jersey or an undershirt, driving down the court and shooting hoops is always a great time. Doing it with a team of buddies is even better.
