North Springs Little League Gears Up for Its 30th Year of Baseball!

By Ashley Ferraro

Founded in 1995, the organization has become one of the top Little League programs in Florida. The organization offers kids aged 4 to 16 an opportunity to engage with America’s most beloved sport, make lifelong friendships, and learn important values like sportsmanship, respect, and camaraderie.

As NSLL looks ahead to this milestone year, online registration for the spring season is now open for new and returning players. The season officially begins on February 22, 2024, with player evaluations kicking off in mid-January. All regular season home games are played at North Community Park.

Eligible participants include those living within the league’s boundaries—north of Wiles Road, west of State Road 7, and east of the Sawgrass Expressway—or those attending schools in that area. However, in a recent update to Little League rules, children aged seven and younger can now choose which local league they wish to join, providing added flexibility for families.

NSLL prides itself on welcoming players of all skill levels. The league operates a two-year/two-tier system for each division, offering a recreational program for first-time players and a competitive program for more advanced players.

In the 7/8-year-old division, the recreational program uses machine pitch, while the competitive division uses player pitch. This structure allows players to develop their skills at their own pace, which sets NSLL apart from other leagues in the area. It also helps keep baseball accessible to all young players.

In addition to welcoming a new season, NSLL has also experienced a change in leadership. Gabe Burden has passed the torch to Rob Boing after serving the organization as president for the past three years. Gabe has been involved with the league since its inception as a player himself. Many former players have similar stories to his and now return to coach or volunteer, contributing to the tight-knit, family-oriented atmosphere that North Springs has become celebrated for.

Under Rob’s leadership, the league will continue to provide the same level of excellence it has been known for over the past three decades.

With the upcoming spring season also comes the highly anticipated Little League All-Star Tournament starting in June. The famous tournament offers players the opportunity to advance to higher levels and compete for a chance to play in the Little League World Series on ESPN in August.

North Springs celebrated a major achievement in 2017 when its senior division team won the Senior League World Series. This accomplishment remains a point of pride for the league and serves as an inspiration for young players.

As North Springs enters its 30th season, it remains committed to delivering a lifetime of positive and rewarding experiences on and off the field for players and their families.
