Dear supporters
Just after starting his professional baseball career, Anthony Rizzo was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. He realized that his recovery was even more grueling for their family because his Grandma was facing her own battle with breast cancer at the very same time. Anthony says, “As bad as the chemotherapy treatments made me feel, I knew I had to dig deep and stay strong for everyone around me. I realized that cancer is so much more than individual hardship, but rather a battle that the whole family must face together.” After the long road of treatments, he finally got the news that he was in remission. He continues, “This provided me the clarity to know that, in addition to my dreams of major league ball, I now wanted to become a role model to help cancer patients and their families. In 2012, with the help of my family, we founded The Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation to support pediatric cancer patients and their families. I truly appreciate your love and support as we all step up to the plate in the fight against cancer.”
