The B”EST” League in town!

Coral Springs Youth Soccer (CSYS) has “ests” that make it both notable AND historic. First of all, it is the oldEST continuously running league in Coral Springs, now finishing its 42nd year. It is also the largEST soccer league in South Florida, which of course, includes the City it hails from. Averaging almost 3,000 players annually, the league is divided into 7 divisions each for both boys and girls age groups (14 total), with no co-ed teams.

Kids as young as 5 years old have had pleasant introductions to the world’s favorite game on Coral Springs fields for more than 4 decades. This means that there are fathers and moms out there who are attending their own kid’s games on fields that they themselves may have run across as Kindergarteners.

CSYS President Alan Hymes says, “The league averages around 250 teams, 550 volunteer coaches, and 150 referees.” Impressive compared to any league in the nation, the organization is even more notable because it is run by volunteers…very capable and passionate volunteers. He goes on to say, “I am most proud of our Zero-Tolerance policy which ensures that we all stay focused on what is most important, providing a safe and fun environment for the children.”

The CSYS season runs from mid-November to the first Saturday in March and utilizes both Cypress Park and Mullins Park, with play on more than 21 soccer fields. Practices and/or games are held every night of the week and on both weekend days. Before you get worried about down time, Mom and Dad, Alan says, “The number of practices and games will vary depending on the age group, but on average each group has 1 to 2 practices a week and 1 to 2 games per week.

Seeing the kids who have a blast all season long while they learn, hone their skills, make new friends and achieve new goals, Alan and his Board of Directors need nothing more to keep their attention focused on the program’s quality. He says, “We want to continue to create an atmosphere that allows everyone involved to enjoy themselves, especially the players. My goal is to make sure that the CSYS legacy continues as a soccer program run with the highest quality members including the Directors, Coaches, and Referees.”
