March Family in Focus: The Travinskis

Robert and Holly are the busy parents of three active sons. Their boys, Brandon, 12, Nicholas, 8 and 6 year-old RJ stay busy with sports, friends and in their schools. Residents of Parkland for five years, Robert says, “We love everything about living in Parkland. It is clean, beautiful, and the schools are great. The community is very close, and we have made many great friends. Parkland has a wonderful library and parks. There is so much to do, from the nearby beaches, museums, restaurants, and shopping, we can’t imagine living anywhere else.”

Holly is a second grade teacher at Park Trails Elementary School and Rob has worked at Verizon for 15 years.

Brandon is in the 7th grade at Westglades Middle School where he loves Civics and was recently voted president of his civics class after running in a mock election. Nicholas is in 2nd grade at Park Trails Elementary School and especially loves Science. He enjoys learning about animals and wants to be a veterinarian when he grows up. RJ attends Kindergarten at Park Trails where he has a great time learning and playing with all of his friends.

When they aren’t focused on academics, the boys are pursuing athletic endeavors. Brandon has been playing soccer since he was 5 and baseball since age 3. Baseball has always been his favorite sport. He plays fall ball and in the spring every year. Nicholas takes karate and loves it. He’s also in the Kickball Club after school at Park Trails.

RJ plays soccer and baseball, just like his oldest brother. All three of the boys spend a lot of time playing outside with the other kids in their neighborhood.

Rob has coached Brandon since he was little, and is very involved with Parkland Baseball, serving on the Parkland Little League board of directors. Additionally, he coached one of the All-Star teams last summer. He loves coaching baseball and says it gives him the chance to do something fun and positive with his son, as well as other kids in the community. “We have gotten to know so many families and made great friends through baseball,” Rob tells us. “Our teams are like a second family to us.” He will also be assistant coaching RJ’s baseball team this spring.

A beautiful and caring wife and mother, Holly enjoys playing tennis with friends. It’s her favorite sport. “I could play tennis every day if I could squeeze it into my busy schedule,” she says. “To me, it’s the best workout because it’s fun.” She had a great time substituting on a tennis team last year for a few months. She is also currently taking an art class at FAU.

One thing that this family focuses on is having fun together. Rob says, “We just love spending time together. We have fun going to the movies and ordering lots of food. Going to the beach is always fun. We love watching movies at home and eating Bulk Popcorn from Vics Corn Popper on weekend nights.” He also laughs about going to dinner at places where the kids can play games while he and Holly enjoy dinner, going to movies and concerts at Pine Trails Park, and a recent family vacation at Disney World that included grandparents and cousins. Rob adds, “We also go back to New Jersey to visit family every summer.”

The Travinskis attend services at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church.
