The World’s #1

Soccer teams for every age and skill level are in almost every large suburb throughout South Florida, and Parkland is no different. Though there are travel teams and high school squads representing our city on fields everywhere, the first steps in cleats and shin guards for most residents’ young children are taken in the Parkland Soccer program.

One of the most precious times in a parent’s life is their child’s first team experience. Little Junior in their first uniform running across the field (often the wrong direction) chasing a chance for glory…there’s nothing cuter. And in the middle of this new experience are scores of other families cheering and enjoying the same emotions. Friendships grow both on the field and the sidelines as families get more familiar with the game and each other.

League play this year officially began on November 8 and will continue through until the famous and fun end of season picnic celebration at Terramar Park on February 14. In the meanwhile, don’t miss a minute of the action at a local Parkland park! From the littlest tykes to the boys and girls gearing up for middle and high school, you can encourage players in every age division as they develop their skills playing the world’s favorite game.

Pete Gado, the club’s Registrar for almost 27 years, has been with the program since its beginning in 1988 with about 100 players. Today,  more than 1300 players in 13 Divisions keep the fields busy from early November until February.  Pete says it’s the volunteers who make the program great. “We provide a decent, wholesome program for the kids. Many of these volunteers have been around for a long time,” says the guy who’s been there since the start of it all.

Whether it’s your child’s first experience with hands-free Futbol, or their 10th season, get out and see some seriously fun action on the Parkland soccer fields over the next few months.
