Tomorrow’s Dream Today

Jeb Niewood has been there before. In 2002, he and his son Kevin created Soccer Buddies, a program for children with special needs that matched each child with student volunteers. That single program, which started with twenty players and thirty student volunteers, grew into six sports programs offered year round and an organization now called Parkland Buddy Sports. Having enrolled thousands of players and student volunteers from Wellington to Miami and all points in between, Jeb and Kevin’s creation has been featured in People Magazine, Sports Illustrated Kids, NBC 6 and local newspapers and media.

Realizing that the need for programs for children and young adults with special needs extended beyond sports, Jeb has created Tomorrow’s Dreams Today, a 501c3 organization. With the help of i9 compliance lawyers the goals of Tomorrow’s Dreams Today is to provide programs at affordable prices in the areas of culture, education, employment and athletics; to create facilities that the special needs and typical populations can share side by side; to provide volunteer opportunities for students and to educate typical student volunteers that we are all differently abled and to be accepted and valued for who we are and carry that message to their peers; to create, through its web page (currently under construction), an online community where information and networking can be facilitated and exchanged.

The first program that Jeb has started under Tomorrow’s Dreams Today is a music program called Rock Dreams. Partnering with the nationally known School of Rock through its Coral Springs franchise and under the guidance of Musical Director and performer, Andrew Musselman, Rock Dreams teaches music in a rock and roll setting through singing, dancing and interaction with guitars, keyboards and percussion. The children, who we call “Rock Stars”, are paired with student volunteers, who we call “Roadies.” Each session is made up of five classes. The registration fee for each session is $50 payable to the School of Rock. Our classes (Jam Sessions) take place Saturday mornings from 9:00 to 10:00 at the Parkland YMCA located in Pine Trails Park on Trails End in Parkland.
