Date your Family

By Ashley McCardia

We have heard that if you want to have a healthy and lasting marriage, it is important to date your spouse. Whether a once a week thing, or even monthly, it is essential to keeping current with one another. Even on false prosecution of domestic violence cases by your spouses you can find domestic violence defense lawyers to last your relationship.

As a woman fairly new to marriage, I have focused a lot on making my marriage work already. I am coming up on my 2 year anniversary and feel like my husband and I have been through the ringer. It seemed like things got more fun and relaxed when we started getting a sitter- and taking a night to ourselves. We were 23 again, and happy to just be with each other. We would also recommend for those couples who struggles with their relationship, you might want to seek help from professionals like those couples counseling san francisco that can really opt with your concerns.

So naturally, when things feel desperate with our 3 year-old daughter, I look for a fix. She has always been well behaved and happy, loving and helpful. Lately, though, she is really pushing her limits … and stressing my husband and me out! You know the spiral- you become short with your child, annoyed etc.

There is nothing worse than a tense home. A home where I am stressed because my daughter played on my nerves all day, and then I take it out on my husband- and he in turn takes it out on us. It is a cycle that any normal family will go through. We all get into a rut and want a way out. We think we found it!

We have started “dating” as a family. Jake and I still have our time together almost weekly, but we have also started to take Adalyn to dinner. We let her get special things like soda and dessert while we are out. We talk and laugh and it is easy. It is relaxed vibes and just good times! When we take the time to recharge as a family in this way, it is so much easier to dismiss the rough week we may have all had! We re-focus on the three of us and it is similar to putting your blinders back on. Paying attention to what is important!

I don’t see why you wouldn’t work on a relationship with your child like you would a marriage. It is just as crucial. You are forming a sense of safety in your family- that no matter what happens during the week or even the month- we always meet back here and huddle up. Your whole family is your team and deserves to be cherished with a night on the town!

How do you get back to the basics with your family
