Explore the Possibilities!

Dancers from age 3 to professional are welcomed as they enter the bright, uplifting atmosphere of Stella’s Dance at 10442 W. Atlantic Blvd in Coral Springs. “When they’re young, we’re building a love and joy for dance within them, as well as improving their basic coordination,” Stella Palumbo tells us. She’s also proud of the comfortable waiting area for parents, where they have a large, two-window view of their child’s class. When I ask if it’s distracting to the students, Stella laughs and says, “How else will they perform in front of people if people are never watching them?”

Instruction for every dancer from beginner to professional is available in the disciplines of  Jazz, Ballet, HipHop, Contemporary and Tap. Students’ needs and desires vary, and co-owner/artistic director Danielle Moore says, “We have ballet students who come in and want to concentrate on that style of discipline as they build their bodies and core strength, while we have kids who are more Hip Hop based who are intensely focused on that training and style of dance. We also have our Contemporary Improv class that teaches each dancer how to become artists, how to feel confident within themselves and how to move throughout the music.”

Proud of Danielle’s gifted and accomplished instruction and talents, Stella adds, “We are constantly bringing in Master Teachers from all around the country and the world to expose our students to their expertise. We recently had a class taught by Rudy Abreu, one of the top four dancers who’s competing on “So You Think You Can Dance.” Danielle concurs by adding, “Every student gets exposed to the professional world of dance because of the outside teachers that we bring in. They become familiar with the audition process through the professional dance world, and we teach them self confidence, discipline and everything they’ll have to accomplish in order to make it in the world of dance.”

Because of the training, discipline and individual focus that is part of every dancer’s life, Danielle compares their athletic regime to the Martial Arts. “Dance is similar to karate because it’s a very disciplined sport, especially ballet, because they’re not only focusing on their bodies, building their muscles from the inside out…..it’s also a mental thing.” This combination of tireless efforts helps the dancers in their movements as they leap, jump and turn with seemingly effortless grace.

Excited about how the body and mind work together to create a more well-rounded individual, Stella adds, “There are studies that show the coordination required in dance helps build their brain and improves their efforts at school! Those crossover exercises help in all aspects of  their brainwork as well as muscle memory.”
