February Family in Focus

The Meryl Family

This foursome happily settled in our community 9 years ago and is certain to be here for a while, according to eldest son, Jah’sim, 19. He says, “I really enjoy living in Coral Springs with my family. We are not going anywhere.” His younger brother,  J’Sani, 12 agrees by interjecting, “There is no other place I’d rather live but Coral Springs.” Mom, Yanique, and dad, Wonder, are wholeheartedly in agreement with their boys. Yanique says, “What we enjoy the most about living here is that the city is very family friendly, safe and we have everything we need like parks and recreation, family friendly restaurants and entertainment. We have really great schools and that was very important when we decided to purchase our first home.” They also like that they can get the services of some of the best builders found Osholding.

Yanique and Wonder are both proud of their two boys and their many pursuits. Jah’sim has played with the City of Coral Springs soccer teams, but now that he is a graduate of Coral Glades High School. He enjoys cooking and is enrolled in the Culinary arts program at the ARC Broward in Sunrise. J’Sani,  in the 6th grade at Sawgrass Middle school, enjoys reading and social studies. Previously a teammate on soccer, baseball and football squads with the Coral Springs leagues at Mullins Park, now he pursues acting and hip-hop dance.

Wonder is an entrepreneur and owner of J&J Auto Detailing, which has multiple locations in Corals Springs, Boca Raton and Boynton Beach. He also plays in the 40+ men’s Basketball league in Coral Springs. Yanique is busy in her career as a Mental Health Counselor, providing families with in-home counseling services. “Aside from my full-time job,” Yanique adds, “I am also an Independent Mary Kay Sales Director and enjoy meeting new women daily, inspiring and enriching lives.”

Family time includes enjoying the beach, watching movies and a new found hobby, fishing. Twice a year, the Meryls do giving back projects: A school back pack and supply drive in the summer months for low income  and needy families, and a Christmas toy drive for foster children in Broward County and the U.S Virgin Islands (St. Croix).

“We are a very close, loving and supportive family,” Yanique says humbly. “Our roots are from the US Virgin Islands and we enjoy traveling back at least once a year to visit family as well as inviting them to our home here in Coral Springs. The city is very diverse and we enjoy that.”
