August is here, and for many of us the idea of school resuming for our kids is a breath of fresh air. I have had a great summer with my child. That being said, it has stretched me and reminded me of how much I count on the help and support of family and friends. I do not think I would have been able to keep it all together without the help of my support system.
As I thought about this blessing it reminded me of how you and I cannot do life alone. Sure you have tried it and may have even squeaked by, but is that what you really want, to just squeak by? Of course not, if you are honest with yourself, you desire a robust life, full of love, family, and success. So, what is stopping you form creating that kind of life?
Just last week I was speaking with a single mother whose teenager is going through all sorts of challenges. As we talked, she told me in tears of her need for help in weathering this time in her life. She told me her X-husband is a great Father and her son respects him, but when he is with her it is the exact opposite. I was overjoyed for this client because she was being honest, letting it all hang out, and most importantly, reaching out for help.
So I ask you, where are you just “getting by” in your life? Is it your family, your career, your significant relationships, or maybe your health? As you read this, your mind immediately went to that area of pain in your life that you may have given up on expecting it to be different. Breathe deep my friend, there is hope, things can get better, there is light at the end of the tunnel, but you were not created to go it alone.
