Life is Good Here!

By Shellie Miller

As our community grows, so have the opportunities to enjoy it. Where many move to Florida for the beaches and nightlife, those of us who’ve taken up residence in Coral Springs & Parkland can take a short ride to revel in the sun and surf, and not miss a minute of the club scene if we so choose. The difference for those of us tucked away in Northwest Broward County is that we get to return to our quiet, suburban neighborhoods that are free of stalled, noisy traffic and panhandlers sleeping under our ficus hedges.

Many of us have made the conscious decision to be here for our children. After all, Coral Springs began as The City in the Country, and families came to have lives that were less about the hustle and more about each other. And by a landslide, the majority of the households in both Coral Springs and Parkland are growing families. Every month, the family featured here in our pages comments positively about their community, their neighbors and the fact that they feel there to be no better place to raise their children.

Through the years of population expansion for both of our fair (and rather young) cities, sporting opportunities have grown exponentially in every age group. From that first step on the soccer field to a college freshman’s full ride to the Big Ten, our local kids have every chance to make the most of practically ANY sporting career. Professional athletes come to live better and train at our world class facilities including the Coral Springs Aquatic Center, the Panthers Ice Den and the many outdoor fields that play host to everything from Little League to Lacrosse. The names of professionals who were raised on our fields is a longer list than you might expect. Players from our ZIP codes, whether they’ve chosen to settle here or were brought up in our schools, are the same ones that you watch on television and are known throughout the sporting world.

Knowing all of these amazing things about our little ‘burbs reminds us that life is great here in our corner of the county. From those of us just starting out, to grandparents who are ready to retire, the diversity of culture, age, activities and opportunity in our two cities is enough to make anyone want to live here. Aren’t you glad that you do?
