Orange You Excited!

One of the most proven and effective methods for fitness is expanding into Coral Springs and residents are sure to be flaunting their new physiques as membership catches on. Orange Theory Fitness exploded onto the scene in Parkland a short time ago, quickly proving that its unique method was life changing for members.

Now opening a new location at 1308 Coral Ridge Drive, Studio Manager and Head Trainer Nicole Kavanaugh is excited to bring this exciting brand of fitness to families further south.

Orange Theory Fitness gives its members group personal training in a class format. All classes are timed to one hour and are run by certified personal trainers. Half of the time, the class is focused on cardio and half is doing strength and resistance training, all done in intervals. Nicole says, “When you do over 12 minutes in a one hour session in the upper heart rate zone (the Orange zone), you will burn calories at rest for the next 24 to 36 hours. Our workouts are designed to keep each participant in the upper heart rate zone for 12 to 20 minutes of that hour. Trainers coach very specifically to optimize results for each individual. Every workout is different; it’s never the same thing twice.”

Utilizing heart rate monitors and huge screens throughout the studio, participants and trainers can monitor their performance, pushing themselves into that orange area of optimal results. During the workweek, classes begin at 5:15am and go through the evening. The studio is also open both days on the weekend.

A mother of three and an active person for most of her adult life, Nicole looks like a cover girl for personal fitness. She says, “For me personally, I don’t do anything besides Orange Theory now. I’ve always been fit, but I wasn’t working to my full potential. The zone training and heart monitor give you an edge that really takes you to the next level.” Lean and muscular, Nicole says it isn’t diet that has her looking so great, but a departure from her old workouts of one hour of cardio followed by another of strength training. “Orange Theory workouts are one hour total, and the results are amazing! Revving up that metabolism really makes a difference. Maximizing calorie burns and releasing endorphins makes you feel great!”

For couch potatoes and those who may be considered obese, Nicole is encouraging and promises that Orange Theory has a life-changing message and workout in store. “Every single thing we do; treadmill, weights, rower …there are different levels of fitness working out side by side. There is no competition or keeping up with anyone else, it’s all about each individual’s heart rate.” The nice thing about it for those who may feel out of shape is that they are working at their own pace based on their heart rate. “We find the “orange zone” for each person,” says Nicole. “People who can’t do impact work can be on equipment that will help them work out to their fullest potential. Obese people really have an advantage because their metabolism will start to rev up very quickly and they’ll see fast results.”

Nicole’s passion is evident in her desire to help others reach a place they cannot envision themselves in. “Our trainers and myself will inspire, help and motivate members to make these changes. We know it’s hard. It is sometimes the biggest help when you have someone that’s got your back and is rooting for you. Once you see the results and start to feel better, you’ll want to keep going.”
