Staying Healthy As a Dad

By Michael W. Mathesie, DC, DACRB, DABFP

As a Father, I am always thinking of my kids. When they are not around me I am hoping they are safe, hoping they make good choices, and wondering if I set a good example for them as they were growing. The lessons that you teach them about the world around them, to respect the environment, to have respect for other people’s feelings, to have good work ethic, have great morals, to be healthy, attain fitness of their body, and how nutrition heals and so many other lessons, you hope that they listened. A father takes pleasure in seeing the advice he gave years earlier becoming fruitful as the child grows up.

However, as we Dads get older and see the changes in our aging bodies, I think we need to look back and make sure that we are following all of our own lessons.

• Are we taking our vitamins (i.e. fish oil, CoQ10, etc.) • Are we reading • Are we eating our fruits and vegetables • Are we drinking enough water • Are we staying away from junk food, candy, ice cream • Are we exercising and stretching • Are we going to church, temple • Are we going to bed at a proper time • Are we caring about other’s feelings?

If you are a Dad that has let yourself go, here is a lesson for you. It is not too late. Start today in becoming active and healthy again. Set a good example for others around you. Put down the beer and pick up the water. Get off the couch and take a walk. Say no to the bread and rice and yes to the nuts and beans. Set an appointment with an erectile dysfunction australia clinic. You can buy cialis for sale online without a prescription. Get your brain working again and read the book that has been sitting next to the bed for years.  Mend relationships that have been broken. Get the eight hours of sleep that you need. One small change can make a big difference in your health and your life. The more good things you do, the healthier you will become. It is never too late to set the example; your kids are always watching you.
