Sweating at Parkland’s Snowfest 2015

Despite seeing its paralyzing gridlock and other effects throughput the nation all over the news and at sporting games, the farthest south any snow fell this winter was in the Florida Panhandle…. But more than 1,500 Parkland residents will tell you that the news is wrong! In early January, more than 10 tons of snow dumped directly on Parkland’s Terramar Park! The unprecedented chill caught families by delighted surprise as they slid down a 30 foot snow slide, had snowball fights and enjoyed some playtime with Frosty.

“Kids” of every age got into the fun building snowmen together, making snow angels and having friendly snowball fights. For many in attendance, it was their first introduction to the frozen precipitation and, oh boy, it was fun!

Even though the entire park wasn’t blanketed, the smiles went in for miles….and those who got busy with their playtime really worked up appetites! In order to sate those hungry participants, it was great thinking on the City of Parkland’s part to schedule a terrific selection  of food trucks serving a variety of cuisines. And after bellies were full of savory lunches and the snow had lost some of its sparkle, there was sweet, satisfying ice cream for those still yearning for more of the wintry chill.
