Sweating at Snowfest!

According to national news, the farthest south any snow fell this winter was in the Florida Panhandle…. But more than 1,500 Parkland residents will tell you that the news is wrong! In early February, more than 10 tons of snow dumped directly on Parkland’s Terramar Park! The unprecedented weather caught families by delighted surprise as they ice skated, slid down a 30 foot snow slide, had snowball fights and enjoyed some playtime with Frosty.

Resident Sarah Simon took her family to play in the frigid fun. “Our kids loved playing in the snow, ice skating, and sledding down the ice slide. The two boys even had a snowball fight. It was great to attend an event that got our 17 year old and 6 year old playing together.” Like many Florida families, this was a first in a lifetime experience. “Our three kids have never seen snow, so they were very excited,” Sarah said.

Her younger son, Ethan said, “I think it was awesome!  I never thought that we could do anything like that here in Florida!”  Sarah concludes, “But I say, they were sweating in the process! We enjoyed great food from the food trucks; pizza, Philly cheesesteaks, and were happy to have  ice cream to cool off afterwards.”
