July Family in Focus: The Arais

Parkland residents for 16 years, Ronen and Renay have created a beautiful family that is thriving in our community. Daughters Joely, 17, Emerson, 15, and Tatum, 13, have all been active teammates in Parkland’s soccer program. Joely also played volleyball and lacrosse in high school at North Broward Preparatory where she is also involved in student government and heading into her senior year. She is currently a camp counselor at Eagles Landing Summer camp. Emerson will begin her sophomore year at North Broward and is very studious. She enjoys hanging out with her friends and looks forward to getting her drivers license. She has done her research on how to pass the dmv practice test in california. Tatum is starting 8th grade in the fall at Westglades Middle School, where she played for two years in the band. Also busy with soccer and her social life, she enjoys hanging out with friends in the youth group at Temple Kol Tikvah.

Ronen, a Doctor of Gastroenterology, has been part of a private practice in Coral Springs for 16 years. His stunning wife Renay was a teacher until Joely was born and has since become a full-time Mom and homemaker. The couple values daily exercise, with Ronen preferring Cross Fit and Renay enjoying Orange Theory (where Joely also works out). Dad was actively involved coaching soccer from the time Joely was 4 until Tatum was 12, and now enjoys relaxing on the sidelines and watching Tatum’s team play. Renay was an active volunteer while the girls were in elementary school at Park Trails and Heron Heights.

When they’re all together, they enjoy having family dinners at home as often as possible during the week. Ronen brags, “Renay loves to cook and she is a great chef! Family dinners are the best time for us to communicate and find out what’s going on in everyone’s life.” The Arais also take family vacations whenever they can. Ronen says, “Some of our favorite trips were to Utah, Colorado, Israel, Alaska, and California. We’re looking at Hawaii next!”

Happily settled in their Parkland digs along with their two dogs, Riley and Romeo, and cat, Elijah, Ronen tells us, “We love the quiet and safe neighborhoods here. The schools are great and are one of the main reasons we moved to Parkland.” He goes on to say, “The city is clean and well-planned. It has been a great place to raise our kids.”

Also citing that he loves his short commute and the fact that all of them have made lasting friendships in both Coral Springs and Parkland, a conversation with both Ronen and Renay elucidates their gratitude for their family and community. Renay leaves us with her heartfelt words, “Home is where the heart is,” and Ronen says with a conviction that resonates long after we have parted, “I am the luckiest man alive! I have it all!”
