January Family in Focus: The Vignola Family

Larry and his stunning wife Aimee feel blessed to have three beautiful daughters: Madison, 9, Ava, 8 and Aimee, 5. The family is completed by yellow labradors LJ (Larry Junior) and Cane (UM fans) and map turtle, Jack.

Madisen attends the 4th grade at Eagle Ridge Elementary where her favorite subjects are language arts and science. Ava is in the 3rd grade and also likes language arts as well as social studies. Aimee is in preschool at Seton Ridge.

Larry grew up in Coral Springs attending elementary, middle school and graduating from Douglas high school. It’s no wonder he’s settled here. He says, “I appreciate the family atmosphere. There are so many wonderful things for kids  and families in Coral Springs. The gym, the Center for the Arts, over 49 parks, the schools, and of course our youth sports programs.” Madison chimes in, “I love how we have an event almost every month, I think that’s pretty cool!”

Larry, who works with a law firm, is also a long time Coral Springs Commissioner and the Vice Mayor. Aimee teaches English and Journalism at JP Taravella High School. The couple met when they were both working for CBS news, where Aimee was a reporter/anchor, and Larry was a producer.

All of the girls play soccer and have taken dance classes and piano. Madison and Ava are in the children’s choir at church, are girl scouts, and are involved in many other activities.

Dad is the head coach of Madison and Ava’s U10 girls team and the U6 team Aimee is on. Since the age of 17, Larry has coached many sports in Coral Springs. He says, “My parents taught me the importance of giving back, so I started coaching my little sister in soccer and softball when I was a teen, which also led me to coaching baseball. I ended up serving on the Coral Springs American Little League Board of Directors when I was twenty. ”

That involvement led to a very long list of many others. Lets just say that Larry Vignola’s name is on the board of many great causes and assures that Coral Springs remains a great place to raise a family. He has made quite an impact on attendance for the Teen Political Forum and also restarted and chairs the Sports Coalition, where Presidents of the youth sports leagues discuss how the city and programs can better work together for the benefit of our kids.

The Vignolas can always be spotted at Miami Hurricanes games and love outdoor activities that include going to the parks, kayaking, swimming, road trips and just being together. Larry tells us, “Aimee loves the theatre and the arts in general, so we try and expose our daughters to as many art exhibits and live performances as possible.”

Each of the girls and mom love reading and joking around. Mom says they are quite the little jokesters and she loves to, “Laugh and be silly with the family!” Larry chuckles that it’s almost impossible to see any of his ladies sitting around without a book. “I tell them that they are like Belle in Beauty and the Beast, ‘…and her nose stuck in a book!'”

The Vignolas attend St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.
