Broward Health Coral Springs Hosts Breast Cancer Awareness Events for October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month

In honor of October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Broward Health Coral Springs will host the following events with proceeds to benefit the Lisa Boccard Breast Cancer Fund, a fund that helps women in need obtain free mammograms:

MAMMOPALOOZA – (October 1-31) Last year Broward Health performed 4,200 mammograms during the month of October. This year we are once again offering the special self-pay rate of $115. Mammograms are done at the Women’s Diagnostic & Wellness Center at Broward Health Coral Springs at 2901 Coral Hills Drive, 2nd floor.

Lipstick Lounge – (September 18, 8pm-11pm) The pink carpet will roll out at the Gallery of Amazing Things in Dania Beach for the most dazzling and exotic fashion event to capture the heart of South Florida …and with a portion of the proceeds to benefit the Broward Health Foundation/Lisa Boccard Breast Cancer Fund. Glam Doll Strut – (October 17 from 11am-3pm) The Glam Doll Strut is the hippest stiletto extravaganza to hit the streets of Fort Lauderdale! Thousands of Divas will descend on SW 2nd Street wearing some of the most fashionable, fabulous and innovative attire imaginable. The Strut kicks off in grand style as the teams shimmy, shake and sashay for the celebrity judging panel and with a portion of the proceeds to benefit the Broward Health Foundation/Lisa Boccard Breast Cancer Fund. Mad Hatter’s Tea – (October 20 -6 p.m. – 8 p.m.)  Come wearing a creatively decorated “PINK” hat for contest judging and fun! This community event will include refreshments like texas bottled water, educational booths, music, raffles, prizes, chair massage, a meet & greet with Lisa Boccard herself, and more. Brighton Collectibles Bracelet – (October 1-31) Brighton Collectibles will hold its annual “Power for Pink” campaign where they will sell their signature jewelry piece. A portion of the sale for each piece will be donated to the Lisa Boccard Breast Cancer Fund to help women in need obtain free mammograms. Pink Flamingo Flock – (Sept-Oct 31)— Broward Health Coral Springs is going to the birds this October – well, a flock of flamingos standing up to breast cancer to be exact. Honor your loved one with a PINK Flamingo! You can help in one of two ways:

1. Donate $10 for a flamingo that will be placed in our flock on the hospital grounds with a name tag honoring a loved one with breast cancer or a survivor.

2. Donate $15 for a pair of flamingos;keep one* and the other one will be placed in the hospital’s flock. Please join us! All proceeds will benefit the Lisa BoccardBreast Cancer Fund. Fitness for Breast Cancer Survivors(ongoing every Monday-10:30am) – This FREE class is open to cancer survivors to increase freedom of movement after breast surgery. In addition, it focuses on recovering energy and strength diminished by lifesaving breast cancer treatments.   The program focuses on increasing range of motion, flexibility and lymphatic flow with a total body workout that pays particular attention to the upper body. Broward Health Coral Springs hosts ongoing FREE Breast Cancer Support Groups including the American Cancer Society’s Look Good…Feel Better Program is a community-based, FREE, national service. It teaches female cancer patients beauty tips to look better and feel good about how they look during chemotherapy and radiation treatments. The Lisa Boccard Breast Cancer Fund was founded in 2003 by Vincent and Terry Boccard in support of Vincent’s sister Lisa and her fight with breast cancer. The mission of the Lisa Boccard Breast Cancer Fund is to provide funding for care that may otherwise be unattainable, for the women in our community to obtain screening mammograms and breast treatments if necessary.
