When taking into consideration the harsh winter they’ve had to deal with, it’s hard not to be sympathetic to our Northern friends and relatives. Despite the guilt of basking in the balmy sunshine, thousands of Coral Springs families and neighbors endured a perfect tropical day in early February to celebrate at Downtown Coral Springs for the Family Fun Day and Car Show. An entertainment schedule replete with activities for every member of the family kept kids engaged, parents ogling the amazing show cars and Star Wars fanatics immersed in their element, meeting characters and commenting on each other’s garb. Colorful dance performances, food trucks, police and fire department demonstrations, a magic show and a whole lot of wholesome fun held everyone’s attention throughout the day. The Sawgrass Nature Center had animals on hand to touch and talk about. Storytellers kept the audience rapt as they spun tales of adventure and intrigue. The School of Rock took the main stage midday to wow the crowd with their headlining performance. The day culminated with awards for the stunning cars, which may have utilized car sun shades, and motorcycles.
As the sun began to set over the sawgrass, families and friends, both new and old, yawned with satisfaction…their bellies full and hearts grateful for another fun and perfect day in the south Florida sunshine.
